Vizag: Mr. P. Lakshmaiah, Minister for Information Technology and Communications informed the media that the government would build the second tower if the district administration provided sufficient land in Visakhapatnam soon.
Speaking to the media after laying the foundation stone for IT incumbation Tower at Rushikonda IT Park on Wednesday, he said that the State government was taking all measures to promote Information Technology (IT).
The State government has decided to make Tier-II cities as next generation hubs in the State. There were also plans to develop IT incubation towers in Kakinada, Tirupati, Warangal and Karimnagar with a view to promote IT. The State had only 334 IT companies generating exports of Rs 5,025 crore with an employment of 50,000 professionals until 2003.
IT exports touched Rs 53,000 crore with an employment of 3.25 lakh through 1,250 IT companies in the State,î he said. The total exports from Visakhapatnam were over Rs 1,200 crore with an employment of 16,000.
The minister said the State government was a pioneer in offering best incentives and facilities for the growth of the ICT sector with business-friendly policies and proactive approach of the government. He said ICT Policy 2010- 2015 was to make the State one of the forerunners in IT sector in the country.
The Government intended to make Visakhapatnam as the next Electronic Hardware Hub, he said Electronics Manufacturing Clusters would be promoted and one such cluster would be opened in Paravada in the district soon. This cluster would house all the electronics manufacturing companies, he added. Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Minister for Infrastructure and Ports, and other officials were joined him.
